DNV GL is a leading provider of independent wind turbine, tidal turbine and wave energy engineering services and software. These are delivered as Garrad Hassan Turbine Engineering services, in recognition of our extensive experience in this field as Garrad Hassan.

DNV GL has more than 25 years of experience in the design of wind turbines, having contributed to the design and analysis of literally 100’s of wind turbine models. As well as providing a range of specialised engineering services, we have developed more than 15 complete wind turbine models over the last 10 years and have supported manufacturers to develop machines ranging from 60kW to 12MW.

Garrad Hassan Turbine Engineering services are delivered by a team of 40 expert engineers, based in the UK, the Netherlands and Asia. We combine experience of numerical modelling, control, mechanical, electrical & marine engineering. By using integrated, multi-disciplined design teams we are able to provide efficient design iterations and optimised solutions.

DNV GL applies no licensing fees per manufactured turbine and places no constraints on the selection of component suppliers. We are keen to assist our Customers in building their own in-house engineering teams by providing technology transfer in the form of training courses and design software.

DNV GL’s Turbine Engineering team has no equity stake in any device or project. This rule of operation is central to its philosophy, something which sets it apart from many of its competitors and underlines its independence.
